5 Physical Traits That Sign An Anxiety Disorder


Each type of anxiety disorder has unique symptoms. Anxiety disorders are usually easy to spot when you feel afraid of an object or event that is not actually threatening, but suddenly becomes extreme and uncontrollable. 1. Muscle tension 

One of the symptoms of anxiety disorders that can be seen physically is the appearance of pain throughout the body. The pain felt ranging from migraines to pain in the joints. This will be clearly seen when the sufferer unconsciously grits or presses the jaw, clenched his fingers, or shows poor body position. These various things are thought to be the cause of muscle tension in people with anxiety disorders.

2. Acne appears

One study stated that adults with acne problems were found to experience relatively high anxiety. This is because stress hormones when in a state of anxiety tend to increase so that the production of oil in the face also increases. As a result, pimples appear around the face.

3. Compulsive behavior 

Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) is clearly characterized by symptoms of compulsive thoughts and behavior will continue to be done until they feel a sensation of their own calm. Examples are checking door locks, turning off the stove or lights, washing your hands repeatedly until your daily activities are hampered and you can't control the anxiety. 

4. Difficulty sleeping 

Having trouble sleeping can be associated with various health problems, both physically and psychologically. If you often wake up in the middle of the night feeling restless for no reason, this may be a symptom of an anxiety disorder. 

The reason is, anxiety disorders are very closely related to the incidence of insomnia, in fact almost half of all people with anxiety disorders have trouble sleeping at night. People with anxiety disorders will often wake up in the middle of the night with thoughts that keep going and can't calm down. 

5. Fear and insecurity

It's normal to feel afraid or insecure when you are about to interview for a job or speak in public. However, if this fear is so intense that you avoid it, you may be experiencing symptoms of social anxiety disorder (social phobia).

Social phobia is an anxiety disorder that makes a person anti-social, for example being reluctant to talk on the phone or chat with other people at an event. People with social phobia will continue to try to avoid crowds and choose to be alone. Or if the sufferer gets through difficult times in interacting, they tend to think about it and wonder what other people think about it.

People who have social phobia usually show symptoms of anxiety disorder that are physically and easily recognizable. These physical symptoms include increased heart rate, sweating, nausea, stuttering, and shaking hands.

How to diagnose anxiety disorders?

If you feel you are starting to show one or more of the symptoms of anxiety disorder above, consult your doctor immediately. Your doctor may perform a physical examination and laboratory tests to confirm the diagnosis, whether you have certain anxiety disorders or other health problems. 

If you don't show any other symptoms of a health problem, your doctor will likely refer you directly to a psychiatrist or psychologist for a diagnosis andd treatment of your mental health problem.
